Team event pairings often draw scrutiny, with discussions about who plays with whom intensifying after each session, regardless of the outcome.
Bezuidenhout explained that pairings are decided using advanced analytics. "The captains and vice captains have gone through it with our stats team and they come up with a lot of combinations," he stated. "I just trust the stats guy and captains to pick that right and I’ll just go out there and do my best."
For the International team to overcome their losing streak, which began in 1998, near-perfect pairings and play will be essential. However, as seen in sports, the unexpected can always occur when competition starts.
