Jacob Bridgeman Secures Second Season Win with New TaylorMade Driver

Jacob Bridgeman achieved his second PGA Tour victory this season at the Biltmore Championship in Asheville, N.C., shortly before his first Presidents Cup appearance. While his equipment largely remains consistent since his February win at the Genesis Invitational, notable changes are present at the top of his bag.

He transitioned from last year's TaylorMade Qi35 LS driver to the new Qi4D model at the BMW Championship last month. Bridgeman also adopted the new Project X Titan Green shaft, making him the second player to win with the Titan family and the first with the Titan Green shaft, described as the stiffest in the line. Wyndham Clark had previously secured three wins with the Titan Yellow version.

Replacing the Qi4D 7-wood used in February, Bridgeman now employs a 9-wood, adjusted to 22 degrees and slightly longer. Both fairway woods feature the Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro White shaft.

His putter, a Spider Tour, remains unchanged from his Riviera win. This model has now contributed to 14 victories this year. TaylorMade putter representative James Holley explained Bridgeman's preference: "Jacob likes to feel a nice arc at release with his putter and does a lot of practice with a blade to feel that. The Spider Tour short slant has less toe hang, but with the back CG it feels very similar to him as a blade. The mallet gives him more forgiveness and consistency with launch."

Bridgeman, 26, leads the PGA Tour in putting statistics, though he often practices with a blade putter before tournaments.

For irons, Bridgeman predominantly uses the P7CB model. However, his 5-iron is a 2022 P770, and his 4-iron is a 12-year-old Tour Preferred UDI driving iron. Prior to the release of the P7CB in 2024, he exclusively used blades.

TaylorMade representative Springer noted, "He liked the clean look from address and slightly higher launch with a cavity back iron. The biggest selling point, though, was the soft feel and better turf interaction than his blades." He added, "The 770 5-iron was added to his bag simply find a 5-iron that launched higher and landed softer into long par 3’s and par 5’s. He found the 770 to be a versatile club that he could flight when he needed to."

Initially, Bridgeman's 7CB irons were set 1 degree weaker in loft. However, switching to the new TP5x golf ball this season introduced more spin, allowing him to return his irons to a more standard loft specification. TaylorMade Tour Representative Cory Johnson commented on the ball change: "Jacob is one of the lowest spin iron players on tour so we spent the offseason working on a ball switch and reworking the iron lofts to start and hit his window. He noticed in the playoffs that the harder firmer greens were tough for him. This switch to TP5x was made for him to win on the hardest set ups in golf. Additionally, TP5x was 2-3 mph faster with driver."
