Two Men Convicted in Failed Suman Mokhtarian Assassination Attempt
Earlier this week, two individuals were convicted in connection with a failed assassination plot against former UFC fighter Suman Mokhtarian, which occurred in February 2024. Tragically, Mokhtarian was fatally shot in Riverstone, New South Wales, the following year in 2025, a separate incident for which no arrests have yet been made.
Reports indicate that the Parramatta District Court found Noah Touma and Usman Chami guilty of the earlier attempted assassination of Mokhtarian. Following their initial arrest and charges of attempted murder, the suspects were released on bail due to insufficient evidence. Despite their pleas of not guilty, a twelve-person jury ultimately convicted the pair for their involvement in planning the murder of the late UFC athlete.
Authorities have not yet established any link between Touma and Chami and the fatal 2025 shooting that claimed Mokhtarian's life.
Suman Mokhtarian concluded his professional mixed martial arts career with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses. He departed from the UFC in 2019 after suffering two consecutive defeats and participating in an exhibition bout during The Ultimate Fighter Season 27. Both Suman and his brother, Ashkan Mokhtarian, who also competed in the UFC, were known to have associations with the Alameddine crime network, a prominent organized crime group in Australia.
