San Jose Sharks prospect Macklin Celebrini is eligible to sign an extension starting July 1st. Meanwhile, Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard is also a pending restricted free agent, and contract discussions for him have reportedly resumed.
While there’s no immediate rush for Celebrini’s extension as he still has another year on his entry-level contract, teams will be closely watching his situation. Connor Bedard’s upcoming deal is expected to serve as a potential benchmark for Celebrini, who is anticipated to become a top player in the league.
Negotiations for Bedard’s contract are in their early stages, and there appears to be an initial gap in financial expectations. However, both sides are aware that a deal will be reached.
If Bedard signs a longer-term contract, projections suggest a salary of $15 million or more per season. A shorter-term deal, possibly for three or four years, could see him earning around $12 million annually, with Chicago reportedly hovering closer to $10 million at this early stage.
Despite the ongoing negotiations, there is no cause for concern, as both parties are committed to reaching an agreement.
