NHL Rumors: David Carle's Coaching Future & Robert Thomas Trade Speculation
David Carle Not Rushing to NHL Coaching
David Carle, currently leading the Denver Pioneers hockey program, has reiterated his lack of urgency to transition to an NHL head coaching position. Last offseason, Carle engaged in discussions with the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks regarding head coaching roles. However, these interactions left him convinced there's "zero reason to leave Denver in the near term — if ever."
With Denver once again advancing to the Frozen Four, Carle's name is expected to surface in NHL coaching rumors this offseason. Despite this anticipated attention, he maintains that his perspective remains "status quo." Carle stated, "I’m not more close-minded, not more open-minded to it. There’s no rush to leave here."
St. Louis Blues' Robert Thomas Trade Talks: Motivation or Genuine Interest?
Discussions surrounding a potential trade for St. Louis Blues forward Robert Thomas were reportedly legitimate, yet some analysts suggest these talks might have also served as a tactic to motivate the player. Following Thomas's recent hat trick, hockey commentators Elliotte Friedman and Kyle Bukauskas discussed the earlier trade deadline speculation.
Friedman confirmed that the Blues seriously considered trading Thomas and explored options. He indicated that Utah was a primary suitor, but the deal ultimately fell through because the Blues were unwilling to part with Thomas without including prospects like Caleb Desnoyers or Tij Iginla. Friedman also speculated that the Blues might not have been entirely against the idea of Thomas feeling "a little uncomfortable" due to the trade rumors, potentially using it as an incentive for improved performance, a strategy consistent with the team's past approaches.
