Bungie Updates Marathon's Endgame Schedule: Ranked and Cryo Archive Staggered
Bungie is adjusting the endgame content schedule for Marathon, eliminating the need for players to choose between ranked play and the Cryo Archive map during peak times. This change, driven by community feedback, aims to provide dedicated windows for each timed mode.
Under the new schedule, Cryo Archive will be accessible from Thursday 10 AM PT to Sunday 10 AM PT. Following its conclusion, Ranked mode will become available, running from Sunday 10 AM PT until Thursday 10 AM PT. This sequential arrangement replaces the previous overlap, which often forced players to make difficult decisions about where to invest their time and hard-earned gear.
The Marathon development team announced this update, stating, "We've heard your feedback that having Ranked and Cryo Archive overlap can make it difficult to decide where to spend your time and hard-earned loot. Based on that, we're updating their schedules so each has a clear, focused window."
Bungie continues to welcome player feedback, demonstrating responsiveness through recent updates like adjustments to special subroutine drops in Cryo Archive loot vaults and improved matchmaking for players in 'isolated geographical regions.' While a solo Cryo Archive option remains a frequently requested feature, its implementation presents a more significant challenge.
This revised schedule is largely beneficial, ensuring continuous access to high-stakes game modes. It also prevents highly geared players, who might accumulate powerful loot over a weekend, from dominating beginner-friendly maps during Cryo Archive, instead encouraging them to utilize their spoils in the more competitive ranked progression. However, players with busy weekday schedules might find it harder to dedicate extensive time to the ranked grind.
The long-term success of this new schedule remains to be seen, but the aim is to strike a balance that satisfies both dedicated grinders and casual players.
