NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, and the Buffalo Sabres

St. Louis Blues Not on Brady Tkachuk’s List

St. Louis Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong confirmed that the team inquired about a recently traded player but was informed they were not on the player’s preferred list. This suggests a missed opportunity for the Blues to acquire a sought-after asset.

Boston Bruins Negotiating with Two Pending UFAs

The Boston Bruins are actively engaged in contract discussions with two key players whose contracts are set to expire: forward Viktor Arvidsson and defenseman Andrew Peeke. The outcome of these negotiations will be significant for the Bruins’ future roster.

Buffalo Sabres May Trade Bowen Byram for Offensive Reinforcements

The Buffalo Sabres are facing a need to bolster their offensive capabilities, particularly a top-six forward, especially if Alex Tuch departs in free agency. Trading defenseman Bowen Byram, who is reportedly seeking an eight-figure annual salary on his next contract, is being considered as a potential avenue to acquire offensive talent. Byram, with one year remaining on his current deal, could be a valuable trade chip to address the Sabres’ scoring needs, potentially even attracting interest from teams like the Anaheim Ducks for a player like Mason McTavish.

St. Louis Blues Not on Brady Tkachuk’s List

St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong stated regarding Brady Tkachuk: “With the player that was traded yesterday, we knew he was available. We inquired about him. We were told we weren’t on the list. That’s the end of it. You can’t create something that’s not there.”

Boston Bruins Talking to Two Pending UFAs

The Boston Bruins are continuing contract negotiations with pending unrestricted free agents forward Viktor Arvidsson and defenseman Andrew Peeke.

Buffalo Sabres May Need Offseason Moves. Trading Bowen Byram Could Help.

The Buffalo Sabres will need to find some offense, a top-six forward, especially if Alex Tuch hits free agency. They could use Bowen Byram as a trade chip. He is looking for eight figures on his next deal.

Ryan Paton: “Free agency officially starts July 1st. The more time that passes, the more likely it is that Alex Tuch is going to hit the free agent market. If he does leave, that leaves a hole, certainly, Dave in Buffalo. Does moving someone like Bowen Byram net them a replacement for Tuch up front?”

David Pagnotta: “Well, his name is starting to circulate a little bit more out there in Buffalo. We had heard some whispers about Owen Power, but it’s getting a lot louder regarding Byram. And if Tuch does leave, and as of now, all signs point to him going to free agency, they’re going to need to replace that in some capacity.

Now we know Zach Benson is going to get more responsibility and more opportunity, but they’re still going to need to look to see if they can bring somebody in that top-six. And moving Byram, who’s looking for over $10 million per year on an extension, by the way. He’s got one year left on his current deal. Moving him out by bringing in offense might be a fit there.

I am curious about the Ducks and Mason McTavish, with him being available, that might be a match that could work, or something along those lines from the Sabres’ perspective.”
