Will Alex Ovechkin Break the Goal Record This Season?

NHL news

Washington Capitals` star player, Alex Ovechkin, is getting closer to surpassing Wayne Gretzky`s record for the most goals in NHL history. In a recent game against the Winnipeg Jets, Ovechkin scored his 889th career goal.

He now needs just six more goals to beat Gretzky`s record of 894.

Hockey fans are increasingly wondering if Ovechkin will break the record before the end of this season. According to statistical analysis, there`s a 73% chance Ovechkin will achieve this milestone this season.

Predictions indicate Ovechkin is likely to break the record between April 14th and 17th. He has approximately a 15% chance of breaking it on April 12th against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and around 14% chance in the following game against the same team on April 13th. There`s also a nearly 14% chance he`ll break it on April 15th against the New York Islanders.

Ovechkin has scored three goals in his last five games, with goals in alternating games. He has scored six goals in the twelve games played in March.

This season, Ovechkin has scored 36 goals and made 24 assists, aiming for his third 40-goal season in the last four years.

The Capitals are also competing for the top spot in the league. As Washington aims for the best position in the Eastern Conference playoffs, Ovechkin should have many opportunities to score in the remaining weeks of the regular season.
