Merab Dvalishvili`s sharp instincts proved valuable not only in his fight but also during his entrance to the octagon.
At UFC 316 this past Saturday, Dvalishvili successfully defended his UFC bantamweight title by submitting Sean O`Malley in the third round of the main event. However, his path to the octagon was eventful, as a barricade at the end of the walkout tunnel collapsed, leading to several fans falling onto the arena floor.
Despite this incident, Dvalishvili remained composed and delivered an outstanding performance in the fight, likely putting his rivalry with O`Malley decisively behind him.
With this second title defense, Dvalishvili extends his winning streak to 13 fights. The 34-year-old initially won the title by decision against O`Malley at UFC 306 in September. Earlier, at UFC 311 in January 2025, Dvalishvili was the first to defeat Umar Nurmagomedov, winning by unanimous decision in the co-main event. His impressive winning streak has sparked significant discussion about his status as one of the greatest bantamweights ever.
