Jiri Prochazka is known for pushing his boundaries in unique and challenging ways.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion is recognized as one of the more unconventional figures in mixed martial arts. His past training methods include spending three days in a dark room without water for mental discipline, where he aimed to confront his inner struggles. He also used to prepare for fights by punching trees up to 500 times daily. Under his nickname “BJP”, he seems to consistently find new ways to challenge himself.
Recently, via his YouTube channel, Prochazka shared a mini-documentary detailing his experience of swimming 30 meters beneath the surface of a frozen lake.
Swimming under ice is widely regarded as a hazardous activity, carrying significant risks such as drowning, hypothermia, and other potential dangers. However, for someone perpetually seeking to test his boundaries, this presented exactly the kind of extreme challenge Prochazka embraces.
Prochazka explained his motivation: “Everything I do – regarding breath control, trips to the mountains, climbing, martial arts, MMA training – all these activities primarily help me maintain complete self-control and boost my self-confidence, the spirit I bring into battle. A fighter doesn`t just step into the MMA cage with their training; they bring their entire history, everything, all the difficult experiences from life.”
He recently competed, securing a knockout victory.
