Tracy Cortez is slated to step into the octagon for her inaugural bout of 2024 during the highly anticipated International Fight Week.
Confirmation has come from multiple sources familiar with the promotion`s arrangements that Cortez is set to face Viviane Araujo in a flyweight division contest at UFC 317. The event is scheduled for June 28th and will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. EuroSport was the first to report this upcoming matchup.
Araujo recently secured an impressive upset victory over Karine Silva at UFC 309 last November, an event held during the promotion`s annual visit to Madison Square Garden in New York City. Prior to that win, “Vivi” suffered a unanimous decision loss to Natalia Silva at UFC Vegas 85 in February 2024. Araujo is currently positioned at number 12 in MMA Fighting`s global rankings for the 125-pound weight class.
Cortez is entering this fight following her first career loss within the UFC, which ended her notable 11-fight undefeated streak. The 31-year-old previously headlined a UFC event in Denver last June, where she was defeated by former champion Rose Namajunas via unanimous decision. Her last triumph was a unanimous decision victory against Jasmine Jasudavicius at Noche UFC in September 2023.
