After a distinguished 15-year tenure, Brad Tavares is no longer actively listed on the UFC roster.
The seasoned middleweight, whose career in the octagon commenced back in 2010, was removed from the official list following the recent conclusion of his contract.
While the possibility of Tavares eventually re-signing with the UFC exists, he is currently off the roster status as he is out of contract.
Should he not return, Tavares leaves behind a significant legacy as one of the most enduring UFC veterans in recent memory, having initially joined as a 5-0 prospect and concluding with an overall professional record of 21 wins and 10 losses.
His recent performance saw him go 2-2 in his last four outings. This stretch included notable victories over former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and submission expert Gerald Meerschaert in his most recent bout in April.
The 37-year-old fighter, a native Hawaiian now based in Las Vegas, faced a formidable list of opponents throughout his career, including four fighters who held or currently hold the middleweight championship title: Weidman, Dricus du Plessis, Israel Adesanya, and Robert Whittaker.
It remains to be seen whether Tavares will ultimately agree to a new deal to make a comeback to the UFC or if he might explore opportunities with other mixed martial arts organizations. At present, Tavares holds free agent status, with his UFC contract having expired without a new agreement reached.
