UFC White House Event: ABC to Advise on Regulation for Historic Card

PFL news

The UFC has announced that the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) will act as an independent advisor for the regulatory oversight of an unprecedented UFC event scheduled for Sunday, June 14, at the iconic White House grounds. The ABC serves as the unified regulatory body dedicated to ensuring the safety, integrity, and standardization of professional boxing and MMA events across the United States.

In a statement, ABC President Timothy Shipman clarified that while no state athletic commission is legally required for an event on federal property, the UFC is committed to the highest regulatory standards. They have specifically requested ABC’s assistance in assembling the most qualified panel of judges, referees, and inspectors. The UFC also confirmed its adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements, including essential medical examinations before and after bouts, and stringent athlete safety protocols. All scheduled fights will be officially licensed and sanctioned contests.

Hunter Campbell, UFC Chief Business Officer, and Marc Ratner, Senior Vice President of UFC Government & Regulatory Affairs, will collaborate closely with the ABC on the specifics of the event’s regulatory framework. Marc Ratner emphasized the UFC’s reputation as the “gold standard” for athlete health and safety in combat sports, expressing gratitude to the ABC for their expertise in maintaining competitive integrity and professional governance for this historic event.

This landmark occasion will be the first professional sports event ever held on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C. The fight card will feature six bouts, highlighted by a championship doubleheader. The main event will see UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria face interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. In the co-main event, former two-division champion Alex Pereira will attempt to secure a UFC title in an unprecedented third weight class against Ciryl Gane.

U.S. subscribers can stream the event live on Paramount+ at no additional cost. Further details, including the official fight week schedule, will be released at a later date.
