UFC veteran Cheyanne Vlismas announces retirement

MMA news

Cheyanne Vlismas, a former fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), has officially announced her retirement from mixed martial arts competition.

Known as “The Warrior Princess,” Vlismas shared her decision via social media on Monday. She explained that the primary reason for her retirement is the need to prioritize her family, especially after welcoming her second child. Vlismas stated that she can no longer commit the significant time required for training camps away from home without compromising her role as a mother, a role she wishes to give her full attention.

Vlismas concludes her professional MMA career with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses. During her tenure in the UFC octagon, she competed four times, securing a record of 2 wins and 2 losses.

Her path to the UFC began when she earned a contract through Dana White`s Contender Series in August 2020 with a unanimous decision victory. After an initial loss in her promotional debut, she bounced back with consecutive wins against Gloria de Paula and Mallory Martin. Her final professional bout was a decision loss to Cory McKenna at UFC Vegas 66 in December 2022.

While expressing heartbreak over stepping away from the sport she deeply loves, Vlismas made it clear that dedicating herself entirely to motherhood is her most important focus moving forward.
