UFC Releases Seung Woo Choi, Diana Belbita, and Istela Nunes After Recent Defeats

MMA news

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has decided to end contracts with three fighters after their recent losses in the octagon. Seung Woo Choi, Diana Belbita, and Istela Nunes are no longer part of the active UFC roster, according to reports.

Diana Belbita and Istela Nunes were released following their defeats at UFC Vegas 105 on April 5. Belbita lost to Dione Barbosa, and Nunes was defeated by Loma Lookboonmee.

Belbita entered the UFC in 2019 with a 13-4 record. She leaves the promotion with a 15-10 record, having lost six of her eight UFC fights, including her last three. During her time in the UFC, Belbita secured victories over Maria Oliveira and Hannah Goldy, both by decision.

Nunes, a former title contender in ONE Championship, has been removed from the UFC roster after losing all five of her strawweight bouts since joining in October 2021.

Choi joined the UFC in 2019 and competed 11 times, facing well-known opponents like Movsar Evloev and Alex Caceres. However, he only won four of those fights. The South Korean featherweight had a record of 1 win and 5 losses since 2021, with his most recent fight ending in a first-round knockout defeat to Kevin Vallejos in March.
