UFC plans October event in Rio de Janeiro

MMA news

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is reportedly planning a return to Brazil in the near future.

Sources indicate the promotion is currently working on organizing a Fight Night event scheduled for October. The targeted date is October 11th, with Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro identified as the potential venue. However, the details of the agreement are not yet finalized.

The UFC last held an event in Brazil in May 2024, when UFC 301 took place at the same Farmasi Arena in Rio. That card featured Alexandre Pantoja successfully defending his flyweight championship against Steve Erceg in the main event. The event also included Jose Aldo`s comeback fight against Jonathan Martinez.

In Brazil, the UFC no longer has a traditional broadcast partner, having ended its deal with Band TV at the start of 2025. All UFC events are currently aired exclusively on the company`s own streaming platform, UFC Fight Pass.

UFC CEO Dana White commented in September 2024 that the organization was “working on a big deal” in Brazil that he hoped to announce “pretty soon.” Despite this previous statement, no further official announcements regarding broadcast agreements or upcoming events in the country have been made until these recent reports.
