UFC Mexico: Martinez and Gautier Earn $50K Bonuses in Thrilling Debuts

MMA news

At UFC Mexico City, several emerging talents were recognized for their spectacular finishes, notably newcomers to the octagon, David Martinez and Ateba Gautier.

Four Performance of the Night bonuses, each worth $50,000, were awarded at Arena CDMX in Mexico City this past Saturday. Martinez, Gautier, Edgar Chairez, and Manuel Torres were the fighters who received these accolades.

For both Martinez and Gautier, their first appearances in the UFC octagon could not have been more successful. Both fighters, recent additions from Dana White’s Contender Series, delivered impressive knockout victories.

Martinez made a strong statement against Saimon Oliveira, who was returning after a two-year break, finishing him with strikes in the first round. Gautier also secured a first-round victory, concluding the preliminary card with a dominant knockout sequence against Jose Daniel Medina.

Edgar Chairez displayed great emotion as he earned a bonus after submitting CJ Vergara with a tight rear-naked choke in just half a round.

Manuel Torres is becoming known for bonus wins, having now received one for each of his UFC victories. This latest bonus, his fourth in total, came after defeating veteran Drew Dober in under two minutes.
