UFC Kansas City: Bonus Winners Announced

MMA news

Several fighters were awarded performance bonuses following their bouts at UFC Kansas City. The “Fight of the Night” honor, including a $50,000 bonus for each participant, went to welterweight competitors Randy Brown and Nicolas Dalby for their engaging clash.

In their main card bout on Saturday, Brown secured a notable second-round knockout victory over a bloodied Dalby after a competitive exchange. Despite the outcome, both men delivered a performance deemed worthy of the bonus. This marks the third “Fight of the Night” award for Dalby and the first for Brown in their UFC careers.

Additionally, two fighters received “Performance of the Night” bonuses, also worth $50,000 each: co-main event participant Zhang Mingyang and promotional newcomer Malcolm Wellmaker.

Zhang Mingyang made a strong statement in his fight against veteran Anthony Smith. He defeated Smith with powerful strikes in the first round, a result that coincided with Smith`s pre-announced retirement from the sport. Zhang was relentless after gaining the advantage, striking Smith heavily and causing a significant cut with an elbow that left the canvas visibly marked.

Malcolm Wellmaker, who recently earned a UFC contract via Dana White`s Contender Series, had an impressive debut. He ended his fight against Cameron Saaiman decisively by landing a single, impactful right hook for the knockout win. With this victory, Wellmaker maintained his undefeated professional mixed martial arts record, now standing at 9-0.
