UFC Kansas City: Anthony Smith vs. Zhang Mingyang

MMA news

Get ready for the highly anticipated light heavyweight co-main event at UFC Kansas City, set to take place this Saturday at the T-Mobile Center. This bout features veteran Anthony Smith squaring off against the formidable rising contender Zhang Mingyang.

This fight marks Anthony Smith`s 25th walk to the octagon, and he has announced it will be his last. “Lionheart,” a former light heavyweight title challenger, has been a prominent figure in the UFC since 2016. Despite holding a 2-5 record in his last seven appearances, Smith is opting for a challenging farewell, defending his No. 15 ranking against a dangerous opponent as he transitions to the next chapter of his career.

While Carlos Prates made a notable impact among UFC debutants in 2024, Zhang Mingyang also left a significant impression. Coming from the Road to UFC series, Zhang competed twice last year, securing dominant first-round knockout victories in both outings. These performances also earned him an extra $50,000 bonus for Performance of the Night on each occasion. Known as “Mountain Tiger,” Zhang aims to maintain his perfect three-for-three record inside the octagon and break into the 205-pound rankings this Saturday.
