UFC 316: Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O’Malley 2 Main Card Announced

The official main card for UFC 316 has been revealed.

In just four weeks, the UFC returns to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. UFC 316 is set to deliver another pay-per-view event, highlighted by a pair of championship contests.

Headlining the event, Bantamweight Champion Merab Dvalishvili will defend his title in a rematch against the man he took the belt from, Sean O`Malley. Known as “Suga,” O`Malley hasn`t competed since his defeat by Dvalishvili but is granted an immediate opportunity to reclaim the championship. The reigning champion, Dvalishvili, successfully defended his belt for the first time in January, earning a unanimous decision victory over Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311.

In the co-main event, Women`s Bantamweight Champion Julianna Peña puts her recently regained title on the line against former two-time PFL champion Kayla Harrison. Peña captured the title with a split decision win over Raquel Pennington at UFC 307. Harrison, meanwhile, holds a 2-0 record in the UFC and secured a unanimous decision victory against Ketlen Vieira on the same card. The winner of this pivotal matchup is expected to potentially welcome back women`s MMA icon Amanda Nunes, who is returning from a two-year retirement.

Elsewhere on the main card, prominent middleweight Kelvin Gastelum is scheduled to face rising prospect Joe Pyfer in the featured bout. Former Bantamweight title challenger Marlon Vera is set to clash with fellow Top 10-ranked fighter Mario Bautista. Kicking off the main card action is a Welterweight encounter between Vicente Luque and Kevin Holland.

UFC 316 will take place on June 7, with the main card broadcasting live via ESPN+ pay-per-view.
