UFC CEO Dana White has announced major news: UFC 316 will feature two championship fights in the bantamweight division.
The headline event for UFC 316, scheduled for June 7th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, will be a highly anticipated rematch between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley for the bantamweight title. Dvalishvili previously defeated O’Malley at UFC 306 last September, winning the title by unanimous decision.
Adding to the excitement, the co-main event will showcase Julianna Peña defending her women’s bantamweight championship against the challenger Kayla Harrison. This will be Peña`s first title defense since regaining the belt.
