UFC 316 delivered an exciting night of mixed martial arts action on Saturday, with several fighters recognized for their exceptional performances and awarded bonus payouts.
Headlining the bonus recipients were the winners of the two main championship bouts: Kayla Harrison and Merab Dvalishvili. Dvalishvili successfully defended his men`s bantamweight title in the main event, securing a submission victory over rival Sean O`Malley in their second encounter. In the co-main event, Kayla Harrison made a dominant debut in the promotion, defeating Julianna Peña to become the new women`s bantamweight champion.
For their outstanding efforts in their respective wins, both Dvalishvili and Harrison received a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
While no Fight of the Night bonus was given out, two additional Performance of the Night bonuses were awarded, going to Kevin Holland and UFC newcomer Joo Sang Yoo.
Kevin Holland showcased impressive grappling skills early in the main card, earning his bonus by executing a slick submission win against Vicente Luque. This bonus marks Holland`s ninth Performance of the Night award in his UFC career.
Making an unforgettable first impression inside the octagon, Joo Sang Yoo also earned a bonus. The South Korean fighter needed just a single punch to knock out Jeka Saragih dramatically in his UFC debut, extending his undefeated professional record to 9-0.
