UFC`s upcoming event in Montreal is getting even more exciting with the addition of a thrilling lightweight fight.
Sources close to the promotion have confirmed that Benoit Saint Denis and Joel Alvarez are scheduled to compete in a lightweight match at UFC 315, which will take place at the Bell Centre.
Saint Denis is aiming to return to winning form after suffering two consecutive losses by stoppage. Prior to these setbacks, he had an impressive run of five finishes in the lightweight division. This earned him a high-profile fight against former interim champion Dustin Poirier at UFC 299 in March 2024, where he was defeated by knockout. In his most recent fight, Saint Denis headlined UFC Paris in September, but was outmatched and stopped by Renato Moicano.
Alvarez is currently on a three-fight winning streak, having won seven of his last eight bouts. After a TKO loss to Arman Tsarukyan in February 2022, Alvarez has secured finishes against Marc Diakiese, Elves Brener, and most recently Drakkar Klose at UFC Tampa last December.
The main event of UFC 315 will feature a welterweight title fight between champion Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena. Valentina Shevchenko will defend her flyweight title against Manon Fiorot in the co-main event.
