The recent arrival of the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’s free Switch demo, coinciding with the 3DS’s 15th anniversary earlier this week, felt remarkably apt to me. Tomodachi Life holds a special place in my memory among 3DS games, not necessarily for its nostalgic warmth, but more for its vivid, almost dreamlike oddity. While it can be broadly described as a blend of Animal Crossing and The Sims, perhaps with a dash of Tamagotchi, this simple description barely scratches the surface of the series’ wonderfully eccentric charm. After thoroughly enjoying the Living the Dream demo last night, I’m eagerly anticipating more of its delightful peculiarity.
