Tom Aspinall was enjoying the UFC London fights but still found a moment to tease Jon Jones.
During the Saturday night broadcast, cameras showed Aspinall in the audience. The top heavyweight contender initially looked serious, but then he suddenly held up a toy duck and made a wide-eyed face at the camera. It`s clear that Aspinall`s duck was a thinly veiled jab at Jones, whom he believes is dodging a fight with him.
Jones is the current UFC heavyweight champion. He won the vacant title after Francis Ngannou left in 2023, defeating Ciryl Gane quickly. He then defended the title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.
When the Jones vs. Miocic fight was delayed from UFC 295, Aspinall stepped in and beat Sergei Pavlovich to become interim champion. He defended his interim title against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304. Although Aspinall has stated he is willing to fight anyone, he is actively pushing for a fight against Jones.
UFC CEO Dana White is also optimistic about booking the unification fight. He recently told TNT Sports that it`s now just a matter of scheduling and signing the agreement.
