MINNEAPOLIS – Golden State Warriors standout Stephen Curry exited the first game of the Western Conference semifinals series against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night after sustaining a left hamstring strain in the second quarter. He was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of Game 1.
The injury occurred in the second quarter. Following a driving 13-foot floater that he scored, Curry was observed reaching for his leg. He motioned towards the bench but continued playing for roughly 29 seconds before the game was halted.
Curry then proceeded directly off the court and back to the locker room.
The team later confirmed in the second quarter that their star player would not return. At the time of his departure, Curry had scored 13 points, and the Warriors held a 30-20 lead.
Curry`s potential absence beyond the first game would be a significant setback for Golden State. In their recent seven-game first-round victory over the Houston Rockets, Curry averaged 24 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists.
The series schedule against Minnesota features only one day of rest between Game 1 and Game 5, followed by a three-day break between Game 5 and Game 6.
Notably, the 37-year-old Curry was already dealing with an injury to his shooting thumb prior to this game.
