Sodiq Yusuff Returns Against Mairon Santos in Lightweight Clash at UFC Vegas 106

MMA news

Sodiq Yusuff is scheduled to compete again, marking his first octagon appearance in more than a year.

Sources knowledgeable about the promotion`s scheduling have confirmed that Yusuff is slated to fight Mairon Santos at UFC Vegas 106. This event is set to take place on May 17 at the UFC APEX facility located in Las Vegas.

The bout will be contested at the lightweight limit, primarily due to its short-notice nature. However, Yusuff has recently hinted on social media about the possibility of making a permanent move to the lightweight division.

Yusuff`s last fight occurred at UFC 300 exactly one year ago, where he was defeated by recent featherweight title challenger Diego Lopes via first-round stoppage. Yusuff, nicknamed “Super,” is currently experiencing a two-fight losing streak, which includes a decision loss to Edson Barboza in the main event of UFC Vegas 81 back in October 2023.

For this contest, Santos will be moving up a weight class. He remains undefeated through his initial two outings in the octagon and recently earned the championship of The Ultimate Fighter season 32. His most recent win was a split decision victory over Francis Marshall at UFC 313 in March.

The UFC Vegas 106 card is expected to be headlined by a welterweight matchup featuring Gilbert Burns squaring off against Michael Morales.
