Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made an appearance in Canadian rapper Drake`s `Nokia` music video, which premiered on Monday.
Gilgeous-Alexander is featured at the 2:37 mark in the video, showcasing color variations of his new signature Converse sneakers around his neck.
Notably, both the Oklahoma City guard and Drake share the same place of birth: Ontario, Canada.
Gilgeous-Alexander was not the only basketball reference in the `Nokia` video. In the opening scenes, the rapper is seen wearing a Drake Bulldogs jersey while performing the initial verse of the popular song from his recent collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, `$ome $exy $ongs 4 U.`
Basketball analyst Zach Kram notes that Gilgeous-Alexander is on pace to become only the 10th player in NBA history to secure the scoring title while leading his team to the league`s best record. Historically, eight of the previous nine players with this achievement have gone on to win the MVP award.
This season, Gilgeous-Alexander tops the NBA scoring charts, averaging 32.8 points per game, alongside five rebounds and 6.4 assists.
