Seth Rollins Wants to Fight CM Punk in the UFC

MMA news

Seth Rollins, a WWE star, is ready to take his rivalry with CM Punk from the wrestling ring to the UFC octagon. Their feud is more than just for show, and Rollins is serious about settling their differences in a real fight.

Despite the fact that he`s primarily a wrestler, Rollins is so determined to face Punk that he`s willing to train in MMA. He suggested the idea of a UFC fight to Dana White, referencing Punk`s previous MMA experience.

CM Punk had a brief and unsuccessful MMA career in the UFC, going 0-1 with one no contest. Although he lost both of his fights, his second loss was changed to a no contest due to his opponent`s positive marijuana test.

Rollins stated on a podcast that he would definitely fight Punk. He clarified that while he wouldn`t instigate a physical confrontation backstage, he would accept a UFC fight against Punk if offered by Dana White. Rollins acknowledged he wouldn`t take on other UFC fighters in his weight class, but this particular matchup with Punk interests him.

Rollins playfully urged Dana White to “book it” if he wants to make money, highlighting the potential financial success of such a unique event.

While Punk trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu alongside his wrestling career before joining the UFC, Rollins has no formal martial arts training, having focused on wrestling since his teenage years.

However, Rollins` lack of MMA experience doesn`t deter him. He has openly expressed his strong negative feelings towards Punk since Punk`s return to WWE in 2023 after a long absence.

Rollins used strong words to describe Punk, comparing him to a “cancer” that “takes” and “only cares about itself.” He believes Punk`s actions are self-serving rather than genuinely beneficial to the wrestling industry, despite Punk`s claims.

Rollins argues that Punk is primarily motivated by personal gain, echoing Punk`s own statement about not being in WWE to make friends but to make money.

It remains uncertain if the UFC will actually book the fight, especially considering Punk`s previous MMA performances. However, Rollins is aware that the fight would generate significant hype and revenue, particularly given that both UFC and WWE are now under the same ownership.

Rollins concluded by saying he would need a few months to train and prepare for a fight, but he believes he is capable of competing. He also pointed out the shared ownership of UFC and WWE, suggesting this crossover event is a possibility.
