Sedriques Dumas, a fighter signed with the UFC, remains incarcerated following his arrest in April on a variety of counts including home invasion, assault, and possession of a weapon by an individual previously convicted of a felony.

According to a police report from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department, obtained this week, Dumas’s arrest stemmed from a domestic violence incident involving the athlete and the mother of his children.

Law enforcement officers were called to a residence concerning a disturbance. A woman there stated that Dumas, her former boyfriend with whom she shares a child, entered her home through an unlocked front door. He then allegedly forced open the back door aggressively and forcefully took the phone she was holding from her hand. The victim, whose identity is being protected, claimed she was on a call with her current boyfriend when Dumas allegedly snatched the device before going back inside the house.

The victim reported that she followed him, demanding her phone back and warning him that he would be arrested. Police state that the victim told them Dumas allegedly responded by saying that if he was going to jail, he would retrieve his rings first.

Dumas reportedly attempted to forcibly remove a ring from the victim’s finger but was unsuccessful. The victim stated that Dumas then allegedly “threw her around the room,” causing her to hit a large wooden vase, before supposedly grabbing a necklace valued at $400 from her neck and leaving the property.

After allegedly taking the necklace and her phone, Dumas is said to have returned to his black BMW and driven away. He reportedly returned moments later, tossing her phone back into the front yard from his vehicle. The victim claims she then asked a passerby to contact emergency services and later informed police that Dumas had previously lived with her at the residence but moved out in December.

Police noted that the victim was observed “crying and shaking” and had “fresh scratches and bruises on her right leg and right arm.” The report also documented “several small fresh scratch marks on her fingers.”

While officers were at the residence taking the report, the victim reportedly continued to receive calls from a person she identified as Dumas, as well as calls from his new girlfriend. The victim stated she also received a text message from Dumas’s girlfriend asking, “You OK, please don’t put him in jail.”

Police documented the victim’s injuries with photographs and also took images of the texts and calls from Dumas and his new girlfriend. Additionally, they photographed a picture the victim provided showing her wearing the necklace the UFC fighter allegedly stole.

Deputies later arrived at a residence where Dumas’s black BMW was parked and made contact with his new girlfriend, who granted them permission to search the premises and backyard.

Dumas was reportedly discovered “hiding in a dog crate in a shed on the back of the property” where he was taken into custody by authorities.

A search of Dumas’s vehicle was conducted based on probable cause. Police reportedly found a large plastic bag containing approximately 51 grams of marijuana. The deputy also claims to have found a black Beretta handgun inside a UFC branded bag, along with other substances described as “prescribed” to Dumas.

Police indicated they recognized Dumas as a professional UFC fighter from prior interactions.

During the vehicle search, officers also reported finding “several half burnt marijuana joints” and a “broken piece of necklace” on the driver’s side floorboard.

Police state that Dumas was arrested but agreed to speak with them at the scene. He claimed he had permission to go to the victim`s residence to collect “items that belonged to him.” Dumas asserted that the front door was unlocked when he arrived, so he entered.

Dumas claimed he spoke with the victim, who he alleged gave him the necklace. He asked for the ring, but claims the victim “told him no and started hitting him.” Dumas then alleged that the victim threw the wooden vase at him and scratched his leg.

Upon returning to the residence where he was eventually arrested, Dumas told police that his girlfriend informed him the police had arrived, prompting him to hide in the shed.

Dumas reportedly had recent cuts on his leg, which were photographed by law enforcement.

Police stated that Dumas possessed a valid medical marijuana card, which was collected as evidence. At that time, officers also reportedly checked records and discovered Dumas was a convicted felon from a past incident in 2024. *Note: The year 2024 appears in the source document.*

Consequently, police seized Dumas’s BMW. The marijuana, half-burnt joints, marijuana grinder, and the Beretta handgun were all collected and submitted into evidence.

Police state that based on the facts and circumstances surrounding the situation, they had “probable cause to arrest Dumas” on multiple charges including home invasion/robbery, battery (domestic violence), possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Dumas was transported to jail where he remains in custody. His bond is set at $558,500, with his next court appearance scheduled for May 23.

The 29-year-old fighter competed for the UFC just two weeks before his arrest, losing to Michał Oleksiejczuk by first-round TKO. UFC officials have not yet issued a statement regarding Dumas’s arrest.
