Despite an ongoing lawsuit involving Logan Paul, Ryan Garcia is open to the possibility of a boxing match against Logan`s brother, Jake Paul.
The 26-year-old boxer recently shared his thoughts on the Paul brothers. While he was once friendly with Jake, his relationship with Logan soured after Garcia criticized Logan`s Prime Energy drink company, leading to a defamation lawsuit against Garcia.
Even with the unresolved legal situation with Logan, Garcia clarified that he doesn`t have any personal issues with Jake.
“I genuinely don’t have a problem with Jake,” Garcia stated in an interview with Ring Champs. “My issue is with Logan. I disagreed with him calling me crazy when I was raising awareness about sex trafficking. I reacted strongly, and that`s where our conflict began.”
Garcia explained, “I said, `f*ck you,` and that I disliked his drink – I can`t repeat the exact words due to the lawsuit – and that`s how the animosity started.”
Looking ahead in his boxing career, Garcia is currently scheduled to fight Rolly Romero in May. A victory could potentially set up a rematch with Devin Haney.
However, when questioned about a potential fight with Jake Paul, Garcia didn`t dismiss the idea, especially considering the significant financial gains such a high-profile fight could bring. He acknowledged he would likely concede weight to Paul but believes this would only delay an inevitable outcome.
“Why not?” Garcia responded regarding fighting Paul. “Of course, I’d give up weight. The fight has substantial value. We would both make a lot of money. He clearly believes he can win, but I see it differently. He’s not as skilled as he believes.”
Jake Paul`s most recent fight was an eight-round decision against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, drawing over 100 million viewers on Netflix and further boosting Paul`s boxing profile.
While the significance of Paul`s victory over a 58-year-old Tyson is debatable, Garcia believes the fight revealed Paul`s limitations.
“Maybe five rounds, or four because of the weight difference?” Garcia speculated. “But he didn`t really do anything to Mike Tyson, and Tyson is nearly 60 and unsteady on his feet.”
Garcia emphasized that his interest in fighting Jake Paul is purely business-driven, recognizing the lucrative potential for both fighters.
He reiterated that he holds no personal animosity towards Jake, regardless of his ongoing legal dispute with Logan.
“I don`t really have beef with Jake, even now,” Garcia concluded. “He might have beef with me.”
