Paul and Chavez Jr. to Clash in Summer Boxing Event

MMA news

Jake Paul is making his return to professional boxing this summer.

Promotional sources have confirmed that Paul will face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the former WBC middleweight titleholder, in a cruiserweight bout. The fight is scheduled for June 28th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and will be available via DAZN pay-per-view.

The matchup was initially reported by Ring Magazine.

Paul`s upcoming fight will be his first in 2025, following his victory by decision over Mike Tyson in November. Since his only professional defeat to Tommy Fury in February 2023, Paul has achieved five consecutive wins. These include a decision win against Nate Diaz in August 2023 and a sixth-round knockout against BKFC star Mike Perry last July.

Before this fight was finalized, discussions were underway for a potential Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez bout in May. However, this fight did not happen after Alvarez signed with Turki Alalshikh`s Riyadh Season promotion.

Chavez Jr. is currently on a two-fight winning streak, most recently defeating former UFC middleweight Uriah Hall by decision at the Paul vs. Perry event in July. In June 2021, Chavez Jr. also fought former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, losing by decision in Mexico.

Co-Main Event

In the co-main event of the evening, Gilberto Ramirez will compete against Yuniel Dorticos for a cruiserweight championship.
