Former Bellator Champion Joins Promotion; Debut Set for June 7th

Patchy Mix is officially a UFC fighter.

The former Bellator bantamweight champion, widely considered the top fighter at 135 pounds outside the UFC, has signed with the promotion after securing his release from the PFL last week.

He won`t have a long wait for his debut, as Mix is scheduled to face Mario Bautista at the upcoming UFC 316 event on June 7 in Newark, N.J.

The signing was announced during the UFC Vegas 106 broadcast on Saturday.

Mix joins the UFC boasting an impressive 20-1 professional record, with 15 victories coming by stoppage. During his successful tenure in Bellator, he defeated notable opponents including Kyoji Horiguchi, Magomed Magomedov, Sergio Pettis, and Raufeon Stots.

He is currently on a seven-fight winning streak, a run that saw him capture the Bellator bantamweight title and successfully defend it in his most recent fight, which took place in May 2024.

Mix had previously voiced frustration over a period of inactivity while with the PFL and ultimately requested his release. The PFL granted his request, issuing a statement that they would not extend his contract and he was free to sign elsewhere.

Predictably, Mix quickly finalized a deal with the UFC and was immediately booked into a significant fight against Bautista, stepping in after Marlon “Chito” Vera withdrew from the card due to injury.

Bautista brings his own impressive seven-fight winning streak into the bout, which includes a split decision victory over Jose Aldo. He will aim to provide Mix with a challenging welcome to the octagon at UFC 316.

The UFC 316 event is set to feature two title fights: bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili against Sean O’Malley in a rematch, and Julianna Pena challenging two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison for the bantamweight title.
