Paige VanZant is finally getting the title shot she desired in Power Slap.
The seasoned combat sports athlete, known for her time in the UFC and BKFC, is scheduled to participate in the very first women`s title contest in Power Slap history. Her return to competition is set for June 27th during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
VanZant is slated to face Mikael-Michelle Brown in a rematch. This bout will crown the inaugural Power Slap women`s flyweight champion. The event is scheduled to take place at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, conveniently located just one day before UFC 317 is held at T-Mobile Arena.
In their initial encounter, VanZant secured a dominant victory with all three judges scoring the match 30-27 in her favor. Following that impressive win, she made it clear she wanted a shot at a Power Slap title.
“Hey Dana [White], where’s that [125-pound] belt, baby? Put me on the next card. Let’s get some women’s belts. We’re here to stay. We’re here to knock bitches out and slap people all day.”
VanZant`s initial transition to Power Slap was somewhat surprising given her extensive background in traditional combat sports like mixed martial arts and bare-knuckle boxing. She won her debut match in the league, but her second appearance ended in a draw due to an opponent`s illegal strike.
However, VanZant bounced back with another victory in her third Power Slap contest in March, which is when she most recently reiterated her demand for a future championship opportunity.
Now, the 31-year-old fighter has the chance to add a major championship to her career accomplishments, with the Power Slap title clash officially booked for June.
