Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett is very confident as he approaches a significant fight in his career. He is set to face Michael Chandler in the co-main event of UFC 314 in Miami. This fight is important for both athletes, especially for Pimblett, who is aiming to climb the MMA Fighting Global Rankings. Currently ranked just outside the top 15, a victory over Chandler, who is ranked No. 14, could significantly boost his position.
Pimblett not only anticipates winning against the experienced Michael Chandler, a former Bellator champion, but also plans to win decisively, avoiding a judges` decision.
“I believe I will finish Mike within two rounds,” Pimblett stated. “I am confident in my ability to end this fight in any area. Chandler tends to rush in with his punches, and I can envision catching him with a strike as he comes forward, knocking him down. Alternatively, I can also see myself submitting him. Honestly, I don`t see any scenario where I lose.”
Michael Chandler is known for his aggressive and high-stakes fighting style. Since joining UFC from Bellator in 2021, he has faced top-level fighters like Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje, all of whom are likely future Hall of Famers, and has given them tough fights.
Despite having more losses than wins in the UFC, Chandler has earned respect due to the high caliber of his opponents. He is taking his fight against Pimblett with the same seriousness as any other.
“Looking at the level of competition I’ve faced, fighting against top contenders in the lightweight division, that has been my path so far,” Chandler commented. “However, I am not underestimating Paddy. Just because he hasn`t fought the same level of opponents doesn`t mean he is weak.”
“I view Paddy as the most dangerous opponent I could possibly face right now. Even though he might look young, he fights with intensity, and we are both going to deliver an exciting show for the fans.”
Pimblett has an undefeated UFC record of 6-0 and has gained significant attention for his exciting fighting style and outspoken personality. While he may not have the same resume as Chandler`s previous opponents, he is a rising star and could potentially end Chandler`s hopes for a UFC championship.
Pimblett is certain that Chandler will not be able to knock him out.
“Chandler has fought Hall of Fame-level fighters, like Poirier, Gaethje, and Oliveira, some of the best lightweights in recent years,” Pimblett acknowledged. “But I believe I will make defeating him look easier than they did. They tend to engage in a brawl with Mike, playing into his style. I am confident that I can win this fight no matter where it goes.”
“The only way I could lose is if I get caught with a lucky, powerful shot to the chin, but as everyone knows, people from Liverpool are tough and don`t get knocked out, so that`s not going to happen.”
