Olympic champion Kyle Snyder was arrested on May 9th in Columbus, Ohio, during a police operation targeting prostitution. Bodycam footage of the arrest, obtained by 10TV, shows the wrestler being detained and interacting respectfully with the officers.
The operation stemmed from an undercover setup using an online escort service advertisement. A total of 16 individuals were arrested as part of the sting. Snyder was charged with engaging in prostitution, detained at the scene, and subsequently released. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 19th.
During the arrest at a Quality Inn and Suites, the three-time Olympic wrestler was reportedly not wearing pants. Officers assisted him in putting on shorts, stating they wanted to spare him the “walk of shame” down the hotel hallway.
According to a police report, Snyder offered $160 in cash to an undercover officer in exchange for oral sex. This money was taken by police as evidence.
While being arrested, Snyder provided his personal information and inquired about the consequences of pleading guilty to the charges. Police informed him that potential outcomes included a fine and mandatory attendance at a “John school,” an educational program for individuals seeking to buy sex.
News of Snyder`s arrest emerged just days after the 29-year-old wrestler signed a contract to compete in the new Real American Freestyle league, recently launched by WWE Hall of Famers Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.
Snyder holds a distinguished place in American wrestling history, being a two-time Olympic medalist, a seven-time medalist at the World Championships, and a three-time NCAA National Champion representing Ohio State University.
As of now, Snyder has not issued any public comments regarding his arrest.
