Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has issued an apology to his fans, confirming he will not be participating in Wimbledon this summer.
The 30-year-old has faced significant injury challenges over the past two years, following his appearance in the 2022 Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic.

Kyrgios secured his first singles victory since 2022 at the Miami Open in March. However, his return was short-lived as he was forced to withdraw from the French Open due to a knee injury.
He had been scheduled to play in the men`s doubles event at the French Open alongside fellow Australian Jordan Thompson.
Now, Kyrgios has revealed that he has encountered another setback in his recovery process and will consequently miss this year`s Wimbledon tournament.
He shared the news and his apology with his 4.1 million followers on Instagram.
“I`ve hit a small setback in my recovery and unfortunately, I won`t make it back for grass season this year,” he wrote.
“I know how much you`ve been looking forward to seeing me out there and I`m genuinely sorry to disappoint.”
“This is just a bump in the road though and I`m already working hard to get back stronger than ever.”
“Thank you for all your continued support – it means everything to me. See you soon.”
Wimbledon is set to commence later this month on June 30.
Despite his injury preventing him from competing, Kyrgios was present at the recent French Open, taking on a new role as a commentator.
He has previously spoken candidly about the possibility of his career being cut short by injuries.
Reflecting on his situation, he stated: “I don`t want to speak it into existence [retirement], but I strongly believe I`ve done the work for my wrist to hold up.”
“I`m towards the later stages of my career, for sure.”
“I think with this injury, win or lose, it`s just a bonus being out there.”
