Nick Kyrgios is planning a return to competitive tennis, targeting both the French Open and Wimbledon, assuming his fitness allows.
The 30-year-old Australian player has entered the men`s doubles event at Roland Garros, which will be his first time competing on the Parisian clay courts since 2017.

He will partner with fellow Australian Jordan Thompson. This pairing comes after his usual doubles partner, Max Purcell, received an 18-month doping suspension, effective from December 2024.
Kyrgios`s recent playing schedule has been significantly impacted by wrist and knee injuries. He enters the French Open main draw using a protected ranking.
However, there is a possibility he might compete in singles at Wimbledon next month, where he reached the final in 2022.
Kyrgios, who also intends to play at Queen`s, commented on his French Open entry: “The French Open was never really on the cards. But after the stuff with Max Purcell, Jordan was looking for a partner and he asked me if I wanted to play. We’ve played at the French Open before, so it’ll be good to get out there and play with another fellow Aussie and have a bit of fun. I’m excited to get out there and play. I’m hitting the ball well, it’s just a matter of playing matches. With this part of my career I’m excited to travel the world and do some fun things whilst I’m out there.”
The French Open tournament begins on Sunday, May 25th. This year`s event will include a tribute to 14-time champion Rafa Nadal, who retired last year.
Kyrgios`s most recent competitive appearance was at the Miami Open in March.
At Miami, the former Wimbledon finalist won his first-round match against Mackenzie McDonald but was then defeated in straight sets by Karen Khachanov.
His victory over McDonald marked his first singles win since October 2022.
Plagued by injuries, the former Australian Open men`s doubles champion has played only one match across the 2023 and 2024 seasons combined.
Due to a wrist injury last year, he served as a BBC commentator during the Wimbledon championships instead of competing.
