The Florida Panthers continued their impressive run in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final. Two days after defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs convincingly in Game 7, the Panthers traveled to Raleigh and secured a dominant 5-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 1.

Florida got off to a strong start in the first period when Carter Verhaeghe scored with a smooth backhand shot over the shoulder of Hurricanes goalie Frederik Andersen. Aaron Ekblad extended the lead shortly after, and the outcome felt secure from that point.

Carolina captain Sebastian Aho pulled a goal back late in the first period with a controversial score, but that was the closest the Hurricanes came to tying the game. Five different Panthers players found the net, showcasing their offensive depth once again, and Sergei Bobrovsky delivered another solid performance, stopping 31 of 33 shots.

The Hurricanes` struggles in the Eastern Conference Final persisted, marking their 13th consecutive loss at this stage, a streak extending back to 2009. Carolina will look to end this streak in Game 2 on Thursday night.

Before that series continues, the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers will face off in a rematch of last year`s Western Conference Final. Dallas is coming off a grueling six-game series against the Winnipeg Jets, while Edmonton had more rest after dispatching the Vegas Golden Knights in five games.

Expect plenty of offensive talent on display when that series kicks off. Mikko Rantanen, currently the leading scorer in the playoffs, spearheads the Stars against Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the potent Oilers lineup.
