Nate Diaz seems to attract controversy wherever he goes.
Most recently, the fighter traveled to Thailand to participate in a reality show similar to The Ultimate Fighter alongside UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones. However, the production quickly fell apart on the very first day after Diaz got into an altercation with a contestant, leading to a full-blown brawl that halted filming.
Diaz later released a vlog on his YouTube channel providing a behind-the-scenes look at his trip, including his initial meeting with Jones and the subsequent conflict.
In behind-the-scenes footage, Diaz is heard saying alongside Jones, “I don`t know… I don`t know what I got in to. I just came in, they were already going at it with each other. I was on The Ultimate Fighter, so I imagine it`s going to be pretty crazy.”
Although the physical altercation reportedly didn`t result in serious injuries, Diaz and his team decided to withdraw from the show and continued their travels in Thailand and Hong Kong.
Diaz later spoke about the incident, voicing his disappointment and suggesting he was antagonized. He was quoted saying: “Came out to do a little reality show with Jon Jones… it didn’t work out because they the opps… they ain’t f*cking with me, so that’s what it is.”
Now 40 years old as of this April, Diaz is currently taking a break from active competition to consider his future plans. His most recent appearance in the UFC was in September 2022, where he secured a submission victory over Tony Ferguson in the final bout of his contract with the promotion before moving into professional boxing.
In his professional boxing debut, Diaz lost via unanimous decision to Jake Paul. However, he bounced back in July with a decision win against fellow former UFC contender Jorge Masvidal.
