MMA Fighter Verbally Submits Due to Cage Mishap

MMA news

An MMA cage was the cause of an unusual fight ending recently.

In a truly strange scene at an Anthony Pettis FC event in Milwaukee this past Sunday, lightweight fighter Kurtis Ellis suffered a loss. He had to verbally submit because his finger inexplicably got stuck in the fight cage.

Witness the unbelievable sequence in the video below.

The odd submission happened as Ellis`s opponent, Brandon Evans, pressured him against the cage in the third round. This had been a recurring pattern throughout the fight. However, this time when Ellis tried to defend, placing his hand on the cage, a finger became trapped in the fencing, and he couldn`t free it.

Ellis was heard yelling in pain, exclaiming, “My finger’s stuck! It’s stuck!” Shortly after, referee Tom Develice intervened to stop the fight. He then declared Evans the winner by verbal submission due to the unusual circumstances.

APFC founder Anthony Pettis gave a brief reaction to the bizarre conclusion, simply stating, “Wtf.”
