Welcome to Missed Fists, a feature dedicated to showcasing impressive and often overlooked finishes from mixed martial arts events happening around the world, especially during busy periods in the sport.
A recent weekend without major promotions like the UFC provided a great opportunity for regional and international organizations to shine, and they certainly delivered. Fans were treated to a variety of incredible endings.
This edition of Missed Fists kicks off with a knockout that might just be the fastest witnessed this year.
The Lightning-Fast Knockout
At a Vendetta Fight Nights event held in Ankara, Turkey, Mahsun Sahzade needed an astonishingly brief two seconds to secure a victory with a spinning kick.
While some questions about the specific circumstances of such a quick fight might arise, the sheer spectacle of Sahzade`s two-second spinning knockout against his opponent cannot be denied. It was a remarkable head kick that ended the fight instantly.
Other Notable Finishes from Around the Globe
Octagon League hosted multiple events in Kazakhstan, providing several highlights. At Octagon League 73, Bogdan Pshebelskiy secured a submission win via a Peruvian Necktie. Pshebelskiy`s unpredictable style makes him precisely the kind of fighter capable of pulling off such an uncommon finish. Octagon Selection 53 also featured impactful knockouts from Amir Kadamov and Mikhael Mamedov.
From a recent DEEP Tokyo Impact event in Japan, Shunsuky Miyabi`s finish was controversial but certainly noteworthy. Despite the fight potentially being decided, Miyabi`s final actions, including stomps, made it a finish that stood out.
Cage Titans 71 also delivered excitement. Jacob Apito achieved a devastating elbow knockout against Cole Cameron, a prime example of “elbow annihilation.” At a Fight Club Rush event in Malmo, Sweden, Christopher Bajo landed heavy elbows, overcoming Ali Isajew who was unable to defend effectively.
In Lima, Peru, Fusion FC 90 saw Rangel dos Santos land a beautiful, airborne switch knee for a knockout. This finish was particularly impressive as it came against an undefeated opponent and represented a rare knockout victory for dos Santos himself.
From Cage Fury FC, Eric Nolan claimed a welterweight title with a striking knockout. Nolan`s perfectly timed short left hand put Blayne Richards down decisively.
Also from Cage Fury FC, Nick Galanti showcased intelligent grappling by turning Shane Sobnosky`s wrestling defense (a whizzer) into offense, pulling guard and securing a fight-ending guillotine choke.
Busurman Zhumagul secured a decisive knockout with a powerful knee strike.
In a highly anticipated bout between undefeated fighters at LFA 209 in Mato Grosso, Joseilton secured a stunning knockout victory over Carlos Petruzzella, handing him his first professional loss.
From Jungle Fight 136 in Sao Paulo, Laura Vasconcelos defended her strawweight title and maintained her perfect 5-0 record with a swift head kick knockout. At just shy of 25, she is definitely a fighter to follow.
Finally, looking back slightly further to a May event in Russia (Alexander Serdyukov Memorial), Shukhrat Mirovazov delivered a notably brutal knockout finish.
While Mahsun Sahzade`s 2-second spin kick knockout started us off with incredible speed, Shukhrat Mirovazov`s performance stands out for its sheer impact.
