Darren Till guarantees his upcoming second Misfits Boxing match will be filled with violence.
The former UFC title challenger is scheduled to fight fellow MMA competitor Darren Stewart in the cruiserweight main event of the Misfits Boxing 21 card this Friday in Derby, England. Both fighters successfully made weight for the bout and then faced off.
During the faceoff, both Englishmen showed respect towards each other. Till specifically mentioned wanting to avoid direct trash talk, focusing instead on hyping the fight itself.
Till stated, “Obviously, I’m going to look to knock him out over eight rounds. There’s not a lot to say. A lot of people are here for a lot of gimmicky stuff, but I’m a violent fighter and Darren’s a violent fighter, so we’re coming for violence. It doesn’t matter about the respect. You all talk about `respect, respect, respect,` but that`s not what this is about. This is fighting.
“We`re going to go in to absolutely annihilate each other, and then we`ll have respect afterward. That`s how fighting is. Some people come here for other things tonight, but it doesn`t always have to be about all the bullshit. You`re still going to get violence tomorrow, and that`s what you`re here for.”
Friday’s lineup features nine fights in total. Another highly anticipated bout is Chase DeMoor defending his heavyweight title against Canada’s Tanner Tolman. DeMoor previously made headlines at a press conference by accurately throwing a bottle at former opponent Tempo Arts, nearly starting a brawl with Arts and rival Godson Umeh. However, his interaction with Tolman at the weigh-ins was far less volatile.
Following a slightly awkward verbal exchange, Tolman told DeMoor that Godson had sent him a gift. He opened a small case to reveal a candy necklace, which DeMoor promptly began to eat.
Tolman delivered Godson`s message, saying, “Godson sent me a gift for you. He feels bad. Just something he thought you were worth.”
