Max Holloway, known for joking about the Hawaiian-like reception he gets in Las Vegas, may have found a second home in South Korea. He received an incredibly warm welcome upon his arrival on Sunday.
The former UFC featherweight champion was met at the airport by “The Korean Zombie,” Chan Sung Jung, his former opponent, and hundreds of excited fans eager to see him.
Holloway couldn`t help but smile at the enthusiastic cheers as he exited the plane. He is expected to spend time training with “The Korean Zombie” during his visit.
Holloway has consistently praised “The Korean Zombie,” both before and after their 2023 fight, which marked the end of Jung`s impressive career.
“He’s a legend,” Holloway stated after their match. “Korean Zombie is a legend for a reason. He`s a true myth and a legend.”
While Jung is now retired and focused on his Z Fight Night series in South Korea, Holloway is preparing to move to the lightweight division after his featherweight loss to Ilia Topuria last October.
Holloway`s next opponent is still undecided, but rumors suggest a potential fight with Dustin Poirier later this year. Poirier has mentioned retirement after his next fight, and a third match against Holloway could be a fitting farewell.
Before any future fights, Holloway is enjoying his time in South Korea and has clearly been embraced by the local fans.
