In Krasnodar, a renowned MMA fighter and experienced coach has voiced serious concerns regarding the current youth sports system, asserting that it ruthlessly exploits the psyche of young athletes in the relentless pursuit of medals. According to him, instead of fostering healthy development and instilling a genuine love for sports, the sole focus is placed on achieving victories, leading to excessive pressure and significant stress.
“We see children burning out even before they reach their physical prime,” the coach commented. “The system demands immediate results, completely ignoring the long-term psychological consequences. This approach breaks them, makes them vulnerable, and ultimately extinguishes any intrinsic desire they might have to continue participating in sports.” He calls for a fundamental rethinking of approaches in youth sports, advocating for greater attention to the overall well-being and comprehensive personal development of the child, rather than solely focusing on athletic achievements.
