Kevin Holland Calls Out Colby Covington, Carlos Prates After UFC 316 Win

MMA news

Kevin Holland, having already competed three times in 2025, has two specific opponents in mind for his next bouts inside the UFC octagon.

At Saturday`s UFC 316 event, which took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., Holland kicked off the main card by securing a second-round submission victory over Vicente Luque in their welterweight contest.

Following his impressive win, Holland publicly called out Colby Covington. He further elaborated on his challenge when speaking with reporters backstage after the fight.

Discussing the potential matchup, Holland stated, “Yeah, I think it would be a good one.” He suggested that a fight between himself and Covington has significant marketability, even proposing it could potentially replace the current season of The Ultimate Fighter. He expressed confidence that any promotion involving the two fighters would “do numbers,” selling well due to the potential for entertainment and trash talk.

Holland asserted that a fight between him and Covington would likely headline the most successful Fight Night event or serve as a strong co-main event on a pay-per-view card, significantly boosting its sales without necessarily requiring a deep undercard.

Additionally, Holland mentioned his interest in facing Carlos Prates and outlined the types of opponents he hopes to compete against in the future.
