Joe Rogan returns to broadcast team for UFC 316, Teddy Atlas joins as analyst

MMA news

Veteran commentator Joe Rogan is scheduled to make his return to the broadcast booth for the upcoming UFC 316 event. The pay-per-view is set to take place this Saturday from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Rogan, who is known for his popular podcast and longtime role as a color commentator, did not participate in the UFC 315 broadcast when the promotion traveled to Canada. For UFC 316, he will rejoin play-by-play commentator Jon Anik and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier to call the fights.

These arrangements for the broadcast team have been confirmed by UFC officials.

In addition to the core commentary trio, the expanded broadcast team will feature boxing analyst Teddy Atlas as one of the primary analysts covering the fights. Atlas will be joined by recently retired UFC veteran Anthony Smith and Chael Sonnen, who will also provide analysis throughout the event.

Reporting duties from inside the arena will be handled by Karyn Bryant. Din Thomas is also scheduled to contribute to the broadcast in his role as a coach, offering expert insight and analysis during the fights.

UFC 316`s fight card is headlined by two significant bantamweight championship encounters. The main event features Merab Dvalishvili defending his title for the second time against Sean O’Malley, the fighter he previously defeated to claim the championship. This will be O`Malley`s first fight appearance since his loss to Dvalishvili last September.

In the co-main event slot, Julianna Pena is set for her first defense of the women’s bantamweight title. She will face two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison. Harrison comes into this matchup with a 2-0 record within the UFC, which includes a dominant performance against former champion Holly Holm at UFC 300.
