Joe Lauzon to Make Bare-Knuckle Debut in Boston

Former UFC fighter Joe Lauzon is joining the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and will make his debut at BKFC 92, an event scheduled to take place at Fenway Park in Boston on Saturday, August 29. Lauzon will compete in the welterweight division, with his opponent yet to be revealed.

With a career spanning fifteen years in the UFC, Lauzon amassed a professional record of 28 wins and 15 losses. He engaged in memorable bouts against notable fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Diego Sanchez, Al Iaquinta, Anthony Pettis, Kenny Florian, and Brandon Melendez. Throughout his career, Lauzon, a fan favorite in Boston, was recognized for delivering numerous ‘Fight of the Night’ performances.

“Joe Lauzon is a hugely popular figure in the Boston sports scene, and we are thrilled that he will be making his bare-knuckle debut at our Fenway Park event,” stated David Feldman, Founder and President of BKFC.

Lauzon expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m excited to be working with BKFC. The opportunity to step back into the spotlight, especially in Boston, was something I couldn’t pass up.”

He further elaborated on the significance of the venue: “What truly got me excited was the prospect of fighting at Fenway Park. I’ve fought in Boston before, including at TD Garden, but there’s a unique allure to competing on the field at Fenway. I grew up a Red Sox fan, played baseball as a child, and even watched the Red Sox win the World Series during my college years. The chance to fight there is truly incredible.”

Lauzon also highlighted the support he’s received from his hometown: “Boston has always shown up for me. Every time I’ve fought there, my friends, family, and supporters have filled the venue. I eagerly anticipate experiencing that again. There are few venues as iconic as Fenway Park, and fighting there is an experience I will cherish forever.”

BKFC 92 will be the first sanctioned bare-knuckle fighting event ever held in Massachusetts. The event, taking place directly on the field, will feature a headline bout where BKFC Featherweight World Champion and Pound-for-Pound #3 ranked fighter Kai Stewart (9-0) from Great Falls, Montana, will defend his title for a record sixth time against the undefeated New England combat sports star Harry ‘The Hitman’ Gigliotti (6-0, 5 KOs) from Haverhill, MA.

Additional matchups for this world-class bare-knuckle fighting evening are expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
