Jessica Andrade Set for Strawweight Return vs. Loopy Godinez at UFC 319

MMA news

Former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade is slated to compete at 125 pounds against Loopy Godinez. This bout is booked for August 16th as part of the UFC 319 pay-per-view event, which is scheduled to take place at the United Center in Chicago.

Sources with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the details following an initial report by Ag. Fight.

UFC 319 will feature a middleweight championship clash headlining the event, with titleholder Dricus Du Plessis facing undefeated contender Khamzat Chimaev.

Andrade (26-14) is returning to competition after suffering two consecutive losses at flyweight to Natalia Silva and Jasmine Jasudavicius. Prior to these defeats, she had secured two wins at strawweight, including a knockout of Mackenzie Dern and a decision victory over Marina Rodriguez.

Godinez (13-5) looks to build momentum after her recent decision win over Julia Polastri in March, which snapped a two-fight skid against Mackenzie Dern and Virna Jandiroba. Since joining the promotion in 2021, the former LFA champion has compiled a UFC record of 8-5, including notable wins over opponents such as Tabatha Ricci and Cynthia Calvillo.
