Jean Silva delivered a dominant performance on Saturday night, culminating in a brutal submission victory over Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314. Silva had promised an emphatic finish, and he certainly delivered, putting Mitchell to sleep with a ninja choke in a highly anticipated matchup.
Despite a somewhat slow start, Silva soon found his rhythm, effectively striking Mitchell on the feet and defending against every takedown attempt. After knocking Mitchell down in the second round, Silva maintained his aggressive approach. He then locked in a devastating ninja choke, forcing Mitchell to tap out just as he lost consciousness from the submission hold.
The fight concluded at 3:52 of the second round.
“I`m the next champion!” Silva exclaimed after the victory. He also expressed surprise at a glove touch attempt and concern for Mitchell, saying, “I hope and pray and help out Bryce Mitchell because I don’t think he’s right in the head.”
Mitchell displayed nervous energy at the beginning of the fight but managed to land a few solid kicks. Silva initially seemed to absorb the strikes, smiling but not fully committing to powerful attacks, gradually increasing his offensive output as the first round progressed.
Towards the end of the first round, Silva unleashed a spinning heel kick followed by a guillotine choke attempt that put Mitchell in serious danger just before the bell.
In the second round, Silva found his groove and landed a powerful right hand that dropped Mitchell. Instead of going to the ground, Silva gestured for Mitchell to stand, continuing the striking battle.
Mitchell became increasingly desperate with his takedown attempts, but Silva easily shrugged them off. Utilizing his superior speed and power, Silva punished Mitchell with strikes before seizing an opportunity during another takedown attempt to secure the ninja choke.
Mitchell tried to escape the choke by rolling, but this only tightened Silva`s grip, leading to Mitchell being put to sleep moments later.
After calling out Mitchell following his previous win, Silva exceeded expectations at UFC 314. He is now poised to become a significant threat in the featherweight division, boasting a perfect 5-0 UFC record, with all wins coming by either knockout or submission.
